Gas Fireplace Trends for 2022

7 April, 2022

What can you expect to see from this year’s biggest fireplace trends?

In 2022, gas fireplaces have firmly secured their position as one of the biggest home design trends. And it’s easy to see why.

These feature pieces are as practical as they are stylish, giving a home a warm and cosy feel, while also providing a chic focal point and classically elegant feature piece. Ticks all the boxes.

So, this year’s home décor predictions have kept gas fireplaces on their must-have list, continuing on from the trends of ‘21.

In this blog post, we’ll be outlining the most popular gas fireplaces, covering everything from media wall fireplaces to minimalist linear fireplaces. If you’re keen to keep your home bang-on-trend, look no further.

Our Top 5 Gas Fireplace Trends for 2022

Media Wall Fireplaces

Media Wall Fireplaces are gas fireplaces that allow users to install other technology, shelving units or hanging items (such as mirrors and pictures) around the fireplace.

For instance, with a Media Wall Fireplace, you can install your TV directly above the fireplace, and a shelf underneath the unit.

Not only is this incredibly practical for a living room, but from a design perspective, it gives a living room an immediate focal point. This creates a bold statement, and gives you a clear starting point, which you can frame your design and furnishings around.

Linear Fireplaces

Immensely popular amongst interior designers, Linear Fireplaces are gas fireplaces that are frameless, usually rectangular, and are seamlessly fitted within an existing wall. The features that make them distinctive are their frameless edges, wide glass panels, sharp design and uninterrupted view of the flames within.

These fireplaces are ideally suited to a minimalist home. Their chic design of uninterrupted glass, coupled with crisp and neat edges, makes them the perfect accompaniment to a modern living room aesthetic. Plus, the use of glass makes the space feel lighter and more spacious.

Textural Edges

Or, if minimalism isn’t quite your thing, another big fireplace trend involves incorporating different materials and textures along the fireplace edges.

These can create an artistic contrast between the glass of the fireplace and their edges, in a stylish multi-material design.

Popular edges for gas fireplaces include stone, marble or tiles (either monochrome or coloured).

You can even take this concept one step further, by considering the reflections created within your fireplace. For instance, you can add reflective panels to the interior of your fireplace, to create a brighter light and a dazzling effect. Or, you can add crushed glass to the fire bed, to achieve an extra shimmer of light.

2 or 3-Sided Fireplaces

We adore modern home interior, and gas fireplaces make it easier than ever to achieve that aesthetic.

2 or 3-Sided Fireplaces are a fantastic example of minimalist interior design, made easy. These fireplaces feature two or three exposed sides of glass, with the other side being fitted within an existing wall. These fireplaces can sit on corners of walls, or even within floating walls.

There are a wide range of different layout options for these types of fireplace, including hole in the wall fireplaces and double sided tunnel fireplaces – both of which are proving immensely popular this year.

As a result, these fireplaces make a wonderful addition to open-plan living areas. They allow designers to add in an engaging and cosy feature piece, without losing any of the light, space or openness that this layout has achieved.

Furthermore, the use of transparent glass further creates the feel of a continued style, which links together all of the rooms.

Smart, Remote Control Fireplaces

Over the last few years, we’ve seen smart design take over almost every element of our homes. Everything from curtains to lights have had a digital makeover.

And now, it’s the turn of fireplaces to be transformed by digital technologies. So, it’s hardly surprising that we’ve included Smart Fireplaces in our list of the biggest fireplace trends right now.

With Smart Fireplaces, users can have complete control over their fireplace settings, through a simple smart remote.

This means that they have total flexibility over temperature, and the fireplace will rapidly respond to their requests. It’s worlds away from stoking coals with your poker!
