Is it easy to convert an Electric Fire into Gas?
26 March, 2021
There are a huge number of different types, styles and varieties of fireplace on the market. There’s so much choice out there, which means that it can be incredibly difficult to narrow it down.
We do have customers get in contact with us because they want us to convert their existing fireplace into another model. This is most commonly because they wish to change up the style of a more outdated model. But, on some occasions, it is because they want to incorporate a different type of fireplace into their home.
This could be due to a matter of personal style or preference, or because they want to include a more energy efficient model in their property.
That’s why so many people are drawn to gas fireplaces.
Gas fireplaces offer a huge number of benefits, including being:
- Highly realistic flames
- Super energy efficient
- Modern appearance
- Can be controlled either manually or via a remote.
So, we get a lot of requests to convert an electric fireplace into a gas fireplace.
When a customer does get in touch with this type of request, often they ask whether or not this is an easy process for us to undertake?
In answer to this common FAQ, yes – in certain circumstances we can take out your electric fireplace and adapt the installation to accept a gas fire.
An electric model cannot be modified so that it would work in the same way that a gas fireplace would. However, in many instances the existing chimney, flue or fireplace can be altered so that it will accommodate a new gas fireplace. This is a process which requires expert help and advice to ensure the correct match of the fire to the fireplace.
Alternatively, this switch can also work vise-versa, too. An electric insert can be fitted into an existing gas fireplace.
